Tory Lanez Was Arrested On Gun And Drug Charges

On Wednesday, Toronto rapper Tory Lane was arrested by police in Mirmar, Florida on possession and gun charges. Officials in Broward County have charged Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of cannabis 20 grams or less, failure to register a motor vehicle, driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to show proof of liability insurance. While the cannabis charge would only count for a misdemeanor, the concealed firearm charge is far more serious, registering as a third-degree felony. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond.

Lanez has been in the midst of a breakout campaign in 2017. Fresh on the heels of releasing two new mixtapes, New Toronto 2 and Chixtape 4, he was added to Future’s upcoming Nobody’s Safe summer tour with Migos, A$AP Ferg and Kodak Black set to kick off this Summer. Last year, the Toronto rapper released his debut album, I Told You So which, powered by the singles “Say It” and “LUV,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Despite his long-standing history with Drake and penchant for easy samples, Lanez remains one of the more popular live acts in hip-hop today. Between him and Travis Scott, you’re more than likely to either engage in a giant mosh pit or see him crowd surf with a wheelchair bound fan.
