Last week, Tyga make the shocking jump to G.O.O.D. Music via an announcement from Kanye West at his NY pop-up show. Despite a working and family relationship, nobody really saw this signing coming, and it was met with an avalanche of criticism and jokes on social media. Not everybody is for the Tyga slander, though. Surprisingly, Vince Staples and Tyler, The Creator are supporters.

After Vince posted an IG image of him listening to Tyga’s “Ice Cream Man,” Tyler came out of nowhere in the comments with his excitement. “Bruh I swear I’m the only one hyped about tyga on good music,” he wrote. Vince replied in typical fashion with “These kids are losers lol don’t know who they want to be or who they like.”

Does having the co-sign from both Vince Staples and Tyler, The Creator help Tyga? Possibly. Both artists have loyal fanbases, so you can imagine the amount of people who listened to that Tyga song to see what Vince enjoyed. Ultimately, the fans in the comments of the IG photo are pretty well divided. Many are pointing out good Tyga music, while others are recycling the phrases “trash” and “garbage.”

For someone so hated by the general public, Tyga has made a lot of friends in the music industry. From the aforementioned names to Lil Wayne to even ScHoolboy Q in his early days. That sort of thing is interesting, because it’s rare we see someone like that. He’s accepted in the music industry by many artists we love and praise, but that doesn’t quite translate into that same love and praise.

I can’t speak for everybody, but I’m willing to give Tyga’s music another chance. Kanye West must see something in him musically, so it’s worth listening to if it’s only for a couple songs. If it’s good, then I didn’t miss out by letting the past music affect my judgement. If it’s bad, at least I tried.
