Young Thug’s PUMA Campaign Makes Throwback Tracksuits Look Iconic

It’s only Monday, but this is shaping up to be quite the week for Young Thug. In case you missed it over the weekend, Young Thug is no more. In his place has risen a man that looks astonishingly similar to the Atlanta rapper, but goes by the name “No, My Name Is Jeffery,”; no, really — that’s what he’s changed his name to. Now ‘Thug’ — er, The Artist Formerly Known As Young Thug — has been added as part of PUMA’s new track suits ad campaign. Apparently, track suits are back. Call your Uncle Vinny, because he’s going to be thrilled about this.

In rocking the pant and jacket matching suedes, ‘Thug’ joins rappers Rae Sremmurd and Meek Mill, as well as Kylie Jenner and Rihanna on the diverse non-athlete PUMA apparel team. The ’70s hip-hop themed ads show Young Thug in a variety of suits — grey, blue, and burgundy in color — with a boombox or vintage bicycle nearby. It’s yet to be seen if Young Thug is just dipping his toe into the modeling world, or if this is the beginning of a full-fledged partnership with the shoe and apparel brand. Honestly, we’re not even totally sure what to call him right now, but if he can help bring track suits back to being an accepted form of out on the town attire, we’ll call him whatever he wants.
