We alluded to this in the first part yesterday. It seemed only right that we bring in an audio interlude between the two interviews, something to reacquaint you with the albums we’re discussing & give you background music to listen to while reading tomorrow’s piece with Prince Paul.

Words really can’t describe what’s contained in this mix. I can attest to the fact that I had a two hour drive this past Saturday & I listened to it repeatedly then…and I’ve listened to it on the way to work for the majority of the week. Jaycee put his foot in this shit and managed to seamlessly bounce between De La’s albums, making this seem more like floating on Cloud 9 with Bose speakers playing none other than The Plug Brothers. Well over sixty tracks deep, “Milli Pulled A Pistol…,” “Potholes,” “Oodles Of O’s,” “Lovely How I Let My Mind Float”…yeah, they’re all here.

The Smoking Section Presents From The Soul: The Music & Influence Of De La (Mixed By DJ Jaycee Of The Aphilliates)

The brothers from Strong Island and their music are a beloved part of Hip-Hop’s past. A favored and shared part of its present. And, with this mix, a piece of history to carry forward.
