It’s Here….

Sandisk just unveiled their Sansa slotMusic Player Wednesday morning which will be compatible with their slotMusic media cards. The slotMusic microSD cards are availible now and the players will be hitting the shelves within the next few days.

The Sansa slotMusic Player (MSRP $19.99) was made to play slotMusic card albums or a self-loaded microSD™ card full of music. The effortless player doesn’t require a PC, Internet or any time spent managing music. Consumers simply choose their slotMusic or music-filled microSD card, pop it into the device and will be enjoying their favorite tunes in seconds.

The unique, artist-branded slotMusic Player is a stylish, all-in-one package, which includes both the slotMusic card and a trendy player bearing their favorite artist’s name and image. The branded player comes pre-loaded with an album on a 1GB1 slotMusic card. (Additional content on the card may include liner notes, album art and other one-of-a-kind content personally chosen by the artist.) Artist-branded slotMusic players will retail for a MSRP of $34.99.

Since we’re in the midst of the political season, I’m gonna flip-flop from my previous stance on this system and give this a shot. Just the other day my mother was asking me where she could get a cheap mp3 at and I’m tempted to give this a shot. I won’t be messing with the pre-loaded cards for $14.99 a pop (which include the latest albums by Robin Thicke, Katy Perry, Coldplay, & 37 others initially), although the prospect of pulling a card in and out to fill it out with anything I want does have some appeal to it.

It won’t replace my iPod by any means. But sometimes the amount of time it takes to put something on it doesn’t help when I rushing to get to work on time and something just dropped. For $20 bucks, I’m willing to give it a shot. I still don’t see the music part of this going anywhere and it still seems like a stop-gap for the major labels until they get a handle on something else. Expect both of these to be on Best Buy & Wal-Mart’s shelves within the week.
