TSS Presents Fifteen Minutes With Lil’ Boosie

By 09.02.09

Lil’ Boosie has been goin’ through some thangs.

The product of Baton Rouge’s streets has never been shy about telling his story. While most casual listeners know Bad Azz for his party singles like “Wipe Me Down” and “Zoom,” his followers know him as the ambassador to the Gulf Coast streets. Though Boosie has been able to leave his neighborhood for greener pastures, his personal life is as tumultuous as ever.

He’s currently under house arrest and facing a trial date set for September 28th while braving a tough promotional schedule and ever-volatile health. Still, Boosie took some time to talk with David D. about his album, Super Bad, his relationship with Webbie, his patented haircut and…interesting details about women.

This is definitely an interview you have to read & see to believe.

TSS: How’s it going man?

Lil’ Boosie: I’m alright, just chillin’ in New York taking care of this album.

TSS: Cool, I just want to start by letting you know I’m from Jackson, MS so–

Lil’ Boosie: So you know my struggle…

TSS: Yea, so let’s get into this album. Why is it called Super Bad?

Lil’ Boosie: Everything is a little better: my rhymes, my production. I got more features than I had last time. I reached out to the ladies more than on the last album. I’m getting more money, I’m more focused. If you’re with Boosie Bad Azz you know what it is.

TSS: Like you said, I know what you’ve been through and know the type of music you’ve put out. Do you feel frustrated that people only know you for songs like “Wipe Me Down?”

Lil’ Boosie: I deal with it, you know what I’m saying? I deal with the criticism. A lot of people only know me from the TV music I did and the way I rip the videos will make them wanna do research on me. I think my fans are my fans for life. Y’know I just deal with it. When people say “I know you from this and that” I be like “here take this mixtape.” It’s just my motivation sometimes.

TSS: Speaking of the videos, you just dropped “Back In The Day.” Explain what the concept was behind that video.

Lil’ Boosie: The video is me walking down the sidewalk, first when I was little boy then when we’re older. It’s just a real street video one of those videos I like to make that people gotta feel. That’s what I’m known for. That’s what my real fans know me for. They don’t really care about the “Wipe Me Down” or the “Zoom” records.

TSS: Who was that in the video with you? Who was that rapping on the third verse?

Lil’ Boosie: That was Money Bags, he one of my artists. He in a clique called Double Trouble. They up to bat. They ready.

TSS: I saw he was rocking the Boosie fade. I remember when I went to Jackson about a year ago my niece was telling me to get myself a Boosie fade. The haircut has become pretty popular.

Lil’ Boosie: Aw man, the haircut is something special. Women love my haircut. They say I look handsome, they don’t just say I look good. You know I love my haircut. My barber is real talented- every time he cuts my hair I give him a hundred dollars. Now he’s getting like $40 a haircut usually. He did something special with it and he’s been doing it for the last five to seven years. My haircut is something special. I rap about it to let women notice it. When they see it they’re like “God Damn!”

TSS: Now you talk about the ladies a lot this album?

Lil’ Boosie: I got a couple songs for the ladies, like three or four. The last album had like one or two, but this time I cater to the ladies a little bit more because the ladies buying all the CDs. But mostly it’s a straight gangsta album. I got like there ladies songs but it’s a straight gangsta album.

TSS: Now you have always said some pretty wild things about ladies on your records but they’ve always seemed to embrace you. How have you kept such a good relationship with your female audience?

Lil’ Boosie: It’s my image. They love my music and when they see me everything just fits in like a perfect ten.

TSS: What about your image?

Lil’ Boosie: Just being clean. Just conversing with my fans. Dabbling with them and signing autographs. They think “this nigga a real hood person.” I let them touch me, rub me. All that matters is when you show your fans love it’s like you’re one of them.

TSS: What’s your craziest female on the road story?

Lil’ Boosie: One time a girl was giving me head and she threw up on me.

TSS: (Laughs!!!) Wait a minute. What? What the hell happened?

Lil’ Boosie: Nothing. We were in the room and she was giving me head and I thought it was too far down her throat and she did like this [gagging noise] and it just came out everywhere on me. I just grabbed that motherfucker by her hair and then just ran to the bathroom.

TSS: Alright–

Lil’ Boosie: But guess what though? I went back because I hadn’t gotten my nut after I wiped off. That made me more ready.

TSS: So wait, you let her keep giving you head!?

Lil’ Boosie: After I wiped up and got it clean with that Irish Springs, I had to catch my nut so I let her go on and go back. I made her brush her teeth.

TSS:

Lil’ Boosie: And we be sticking pill up girl’s booty too!

TSS: Ok look, now I heard on the mixtape with Hurricane Chris, you mentioned that. What’s up with that?

Lil’ Boosie: Yea, it kicks in after 20 seconds. It hits them in 20 seconds.

TSS: How does someone even find that out?

Lil’ Boosie: I get it from my cousin. He did it to a few girls way back in the game. And it just took off. I put it in a song. Everything I put in a song, I’ve tried it. So I put it in her booty hole and it melted. It melts in their booty hole and it hits them in 20 seconds. You never know what they’re gonna do. They may break out crying talking about their momma doesn’t love them or something. It hit them in the booty hole good. The booty is like eating the pill.

TSS: Then they start throwing up?

Lil’ Boosie: Naw, she was off that Goose and Patron. I didn’t put one in her booty. It was Goose and Patron.

TSS: I don’t really know where to go after that. Okay, let’s talk about the mixtape with Hurricane Chris. How did that come about?

Lil’ Boosie: Hurricane is my little homie. We went in for two weeks and made 20 songs. He has a good work ethic. After about 4-5 days we did about eight of them. Then we did a few more and came back on the third week and finished it up. It’s a good mixtape. People are playing it. People are asking for the album. We’re going to show people that Louisiana artists make that good music together.

TSS: What’s the word with Webbie? It seems like you two haven’t done a song in a minute.

Lil’ Boosie: I don’t really know. I know I’m focused. I’ve been making songs every night for the last year. I have like six or seven albums on the computer I’m making so much music. I’m waiting on the Gangsta Muzik 2. I wanna get him in this studio and get on these mixtapes. Once I track him down and get him in there we’re gonna go hard. It’s just about getting him in there.

TSS: So is there a problem with you two or is he just not being as focused as he should be?

Lil’ Boosie: I don’t really want to comment on that. We just have to get it together and make music.

TSS: Back to the album, what’s with “Loose As A Goose” and the dance?

Lil’ Boosie: Man, I was just feeling myself. I was drunk and really just playing in the studio. Courtney Scott, she recorded it and put the song behind it. Now when I go to the show, I do the dance and people gotta do the dance with me. It didn’t hurt me at all I tell you that. I was just clowning and it got big.

TSS: Now we’ve talked for ten minutes and you’ve mentioned Ex and pills and drinking. How’s your health?

Lil’ Boosie: I’m doing good. I haven’t been in the hospital in a while I’m doing really good. It’s a little worse when I’m on the road. I don’t really eat good with all this damn airport food. I could do better but I’m doing better than I’ve ever been. I just had to realize that I became a man and I don’t have to do all kinds of unhealthy things.

TSS: Does this mean weaning off of the hard drugs you rap about?

Lil’ Boosie: Naw, these last six months they’ve had me on house arrest. I can’t smoke marijuana. I can’t do any of that. I may lean a little bit or hit a blount one time but I can’t go hard like I used to. They wanna see my pee and all that. I’ve just been chilling. I’m more focused with the music though.
