One thing I’ve always respected about Big Boi was his patience. These past few years it seems as if everyone has had the same four questions.
1. Where’s Andre?
2. Are you two still cool?
3. What’s taking so long for your solo album?
4. Will there ever be another OutKast album?
To be honest, I was just waiting on the day he blacked on some unsuspecting interviewer. Twan is still a month and change away from the release of Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty, but the wait for the visual of one of the year’s most infectious singles is finally over.
The one thing about OutKast-related videos over the years has always been their uniqueness. With the assistance of a muppet autotune band, the son of Chico Dusty loses his head. Literally. Through mounds of sneakers, an ol’ school big body whip and an endless sea of the “infamous” red cups, “Shutterbug” showcases the inner workings and visions of a man who still calls “Stankonia” home. It was dope seeing the Dungeon Family posted up as well.
Now, if the powers that be could somehow create a remix with Big, Dre, Sleepy Brown and Cee-Lo — well, I really don’t know what I’d do if that ever happened.
Of course, a video isn’t going to be good enough in today’s world as far as promotion is concerned. The third installment of the “The Road To Sir Lucious Left Foot” finds Big hitting the road with his trusty elephant napsack of goodies. Not that I smoke or anything, but that “cigarette roller” looks like it comes in handy and cuts down on preparation time. Big links up with another TSS favorite, Yelawolf, as they tear down the stage at UGA in Athens, Georgia. Give this man some “loud,” a Black & Mild, a microphone and some apple Now-and-Laters and watch him work.
If you want to see the best part of the part of the video, fast forward to the 3:26 mark. Yes, you’re right, we have a Jamal Anderson sighting.
I want more like this!
