Simply put, Thank Me Later has too many guest appearances. The people paid their money to hear Drake, not Sgt. Drizzy’s Lonely Hearts Club. It’s overly calculated, pieces of plastic like this that continue to strip the art from every industry album as the game keeps reforming.
That being said, “Unforgettable” is a nice record. A smooth, relationship parable that’s coterminous with the theme of the album thus far. For the betterment of his artistic career, Jeezy is getting soft; allowing him to fit in on the strength of his newfound abilities instead of name recognition. And of course, this is Drake’s comfort zone.
Melodramatic melodies that are oh-so-unforgettable. Thank him later. Thank Aaliyah forever.
