I’m sure many of you are with me when I admit I often sideline rap out of boredom from recycled topics.
Haters. Money. Murder. The streets. Martians. Cars. My girl getting screwed by people she’s never met. Money, again.
Redundancy at its finest. Luckily for myself and the rest of civilized society, Houston rapper/teacher/role-model Rob Jay has an itinerary to reroute the minds of those influenced by ignorance.
Reworking a timeless proverb and life lesson, “Each One” is from Mr. Jay’s 2009 Art Life EP tells the tale of how Rob altered his class of lackadaisical 3rd graders into straight-A students by getting on their level with an engaging, weekly rap routine to help retain focus. The inspiring story makes for an even better song, drawing in us open-minded folk looking to fill the void.
If more rappers took this approach, we’d all be better off.
