With all due respect to the late, great Ray Charles, Georgia may have a new state song on its hands. Cee-Lo constructs a soulful, emotionally enthralling tune over sax wails, light congo slaps and church organs, personifying Georgia as his mother. I’ve made no secret that Cee-Lo Green And His Perfect Imperfections is my favorite album of all time. So this song is much overdo and welcome.
I copped the track from Amazon, and you can (and should) too.
I’m about to take up permanent residence in Georgia just so I can sing this song and pretend he’s talking about my home state. For the whole drive over to the Peach state, I’ll be tuning my vocal chords to hit that “Georgia” note on the hook.
