There was a time when I would have fought hard for Lupe. Now, not so much. That’s not to say I’m not a fan of dude’s work and won’t support it when the time comes because I will. As in a lot of cases though, the reasoning for Lupe’s new album being held hostage for the past year isn’t his doing at all. It’s Atlantic Record’s. For months, Lupe fans have been up at arms about the lack of action surrounding his highly anticipated third project, Lasers.
Turns out, those fans are sick and tired of being sick and tired, which has forced them to take matters into their own hands. I’ve long since thought Lupe fanatics trailed only Justin Bieber Stans as the most “driven” and this just proves it. Last week, Brother Fiasco tweeted Lasers was completed. The LP was ready to go and primed for listeners to once again proclaim him as the premiere lyricist of his generation. The only problem was “the powers that be” weren’t going to release for whatever reasons. Beats me. So what do those stans fans do? They’ve hit the e-streets and they’ve been hitting them hard with their own makeshift petition.
Dear Atlantic Records,
The fans have been waiting for the release for Lupe Fiasco’s album “Lasers” for over a good year now. Since when it was originally announced finished last summer, there has still yet to be a release date announced. It has even been stated by Lupe Fiasco the artist himself, that the album is in fact completed. Enough is enough, we demand that you stop playing around and give us the album that we have been highly anticipating since the release of The Cool.
I told you those Lupe fanatics aren’t anything to mess around with. Atlantic Records is going to pay what they owe if these people have anything to say about it. If this type of social disobedience tickles your fancy, don’t worry, your voice can be heard as well. You, too, can be apart of the movement by clicking here.
Whatever happened to Friends Of The People though?
