The Official 2010 A3C Mixtape

By / 09.29.10

I try not to get too excited about any musical events or traveling period. All of the pre-planning and coordinating involved usually does well enough at distracted me from the anticipation anyways. However, I fell head over heels in love with A3C rather quickly. The proximity is a plus as well as the fact that it’s approximately six months apart from SXSW helps as well. But the biggest draw may be the wide array of artists that it brings to Atlanta. There’s the rising stars, the names we know as well as future mentions all convening in one city for a few quick days, along with fans and listeners who come to take it all in.

Being that it takes place in the South, there’s a genial, almost family reunion feel to the whole thing and there’s the difference that makes A3C a totally different experience from other festivals. SXSW is a constant blitzkrieg; A3C has a comfortable Southern drawl to its pace. There’s time to fraternize and actually chop it up with artists. During the off time, the city has ample spots for food and drinks plus shopping attractions. Traffic too, but I digress.

If you can’t make it to the A next week, that’s for shame because the whole thing really is a thing of beauty. Still, SMKA’s got you covered by putting together two mixes for your benefit. It’ll hold you down for this year, but go ahead and starting saving cash so you’ll be in attendance for the next.

“With over 200 artists taking one of the festival’s many stages over the course of the weekend, A3C has teamed up with SMKA to present a two-part Official 2010 A3C Mixtape, featuring tracks from a sampling of the artists scheduled to perform. Showing off the regional diversity of artists in attendance, part one of the series features tracks from 1982 (Statik Selektah & Termanology), Crooked I, Killer Mike, Chaundon, Aleon Craft, Mistah FAB, The Jacka, and more.”
