Jazmine Sullivan makes heartbreak sound so beautiful. I’ve often wondered about Jazzy’s inspiration. Whoever the guy is, it has suck knowing your mistakes are helping build another person’s fortune. It’s the same thing I said about Keyshia Cole, until she got crossed up by Daniel Gibson and eventually jumped the broom. And who could forget about the queen of R&B heartbreak, Mary J. The formula is simple: pain > happiness, everyday of the week and every month of the year.
Like anybody else, I wish Jazmine nothing but the best in all phases of life. Professionally, however, I pray she never loses this soulful edge to her, especially with the November 2 release of her sophomore project Love Me Back. Where “Holding You Down” was the more upbeat, attention grabbing single, her Salaam Remi produced “10 Seconds” is the one which will have females nationwide burning pictures of their exes and taking bottles of wine to the head as apart of their healing process.
