Russell Westbrook? That Boy Good!

By / 11.29.10

Seems like there’s a lot of chatter about premiere NBA point guards. Usually it’s Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Rajon Rondo, and Derrick Rose hogging most of the spotlight. Lately it’s been Westbrook making a name for himself as an emerging star at the 1. He’s a great slasher, strong, sees the court well, actually plays good perimeter defense and has a knack for grabbing boards despite being listed at 6’3″. The only knock I have on his game is his pre-cooked J. With that said, it’s improving and he can hit shots as long as he gets going.

More importantly, Kevin Durant is one of my favorite players and he’s the face of the Thunder. But they’d be in a world of hurt without Westbrook’s contributions. Let’s not forget how he picked up the slack against LA in last year’s playoffs while Kevin was struggling.

Alas, this is the internet and most online dwellers don’t care about the finer points of basketball. Therefore this juncture is ripe for some sort of spectacular play to put heads on notice about Russell’s athleticism. Just watch and brace yourself.

That dunk made Shane Battier’s bald headed Ruffles shake. The Rockets got the last laugh with the dub. Yet this is one of those L’s people will remember long after the buzzer sounds. Westbrook ought to make the all star team if he keeps playing well and OKC stays in the hunt. It’d be a shame if he remains consistent and gets snubbed.
