Statik Selektah & Termanology Commanded 1982 In 2010

Earlier this year, the unfortunate death of of Keith “Guru” Elam from Gang Starr saw the end of an era where a producer and MC created a unified duality to consolidate the quality control for an entire LP. Or has it? 2010 has seen a rebirth of the practice where cohesiveness trumps catchiness.Duck Down Records in particular saw in-house relationships blossom into exceptional projects (Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx’s The eXXecution and Skyzoo & Illmind’s Live From The Tape Deck) while female rapper Eternia made a significant impact with her debut with MoSS At Last.

Termanonlogy and Statik Selektah have appeared on one another’s projects with noteworthy contributions. But that isn’t where the similarities end as their are unique ties that influence their brand of Hip-Hop. Hailing from Lawerence, MA and both born in 1982, the boys from Beantown formally created a group in the likeness of their birth year to propel their East Coast brand to conquer rap’s atmosphere.

Below is the two-for-one deal of absorbing the music for the movies. If there is a such thing as “real” Hip-Hop…

1982 Feat. Bun B & Masspike Miles – “You Should Go Home”

1982 – “Still Waiting”

1982 – “People Are Running”

1982 Feat. Cassidy & Xzibit – “Goin Back”
