Once upon a time, Vakill was a threat to every emcee walking. His Worst Fears Confirmed was replete with tracks featuring a tenacious lyricist who rapped as if a gun was pointed to his head, the person on the other end telling him to slay songs or get slayed. The Chi-town guy walked away from the exchange with an album that if you knew about it, you knew just what he was capable of.
But that was 2006 and years have passed since Vakill’s last solo appearance on wax. To be honest, I considered myself a pretty strong follower of his material but around 2009 I lost complete track of him as well as my faith that he’d drop new material. I think he’s still done work with Molemen and made appearances, but nothing substantial of Worst… and his debut, The Darkest Cloud. Until now at least as they’ve finally set a June release for Armor Of God, which officially went up for pre-order a day or so ago. Now, I’m not saying he’s the same guy – which he very well shouldn’t be – but beware for potential sound clash if Armor is on par with his previous works.
