Around the Gotty™ household, we were watching last night’s game at the dinner table. In live action, we witnessed…
1. Joakim Noah’s attempted rebound which was called a foul.
2. The replay.
3. Noah taking a spot on the bench immediately after and then turning to mouth a few unmentionable words to a fan.
I told my wife then that the game’s announcers didn’t acknowledge Noah’s language but, boy oh boy, will the media. And no sooner than the game ended, Noah issued an apology after realizing he’d be caught red-handed.
“I apologize,” Noah said. “The fan said something to me that I thought was disrespectful, and I got caught up in the moment, and I said some things that I shouldn’t have said. I was frustrated and I don’t mean no disrespect to anybody. I just got caught up.” [ESPN]
Will the quick apology deter Stern for fining Joakim? Odds are the answer is hell no. Kobe got slapped with a $100K fine for his transgression a few weeks ago and he’s one of the league’s posterboys. Noah can expect to see a similar deduction from his paycheck as well.
For the record, David D., not I, said Noah was likely addressing the Miami fan who wore Uggs and that the Louis C.K. video below should be included here. Lord knows if I condone the use of the word the cavalry will come riding in on unicorns ready to attack in the comments section. Again, direct all hate to David D.
