Back in November 2009, Danny Swain’s Def Jux debut Where Is Danny? leaked unexpectedly. And it was good, as Swain’s sly, witty punchlines matched up beautifully with Alex Goose’s dusty production. But, as a result of the leak, the album was pushed back, and eventually dropped into limbo. Over a year went by with no noise from Danny or his camp. However, as one always hopes it will, the good music is set to – legitimately – be released to the public.
Fresh off a new deal with Interscope, Swain will be putting out a reworked version of his album, featuring brand-new production from the man himself. Here, he puts a new spin on his collaboration with Von Pea, “Hoedown Showdown.” Featuring a revamped beat, the cut still snaps, demonstrating Swain’s ear for dusty samples and his slick skills on the microphone.
According to The State, the revamped version of Where Is Danny? will be dropping sometime in the late summer.
