As I was leaving the house on Tuesday, the FedEx guy stopped by the house, dropping off a slender but colossus-sized rectangular box. Inside it was the a colossal set of Nike Basketball promo materials geared towards the NBA’s postseason push and the “EPIC performances that build heroes and cast legacies,” depicting Pierce, Durant, LeBron & Kobe doing battle in their respective sneaker models. Referring back to the earlier post on packaging’s importance, the mammoth booklet’s impressive – coming concealed in its own, equally large sleeve - and the boy cub has already called dibs on the Kobe-LeBron cardboard.
On Monday, the UPS guy, my favorite, swung by and dropped off a delivery as well, a box containing the LeBron 8 P.S. (Post Season) sneakers, an even lighter, lower third edition designed by Jason Petrie and built to mirror LBJ’s needs as his game changes for the Playoffs. I haven’t laced them up yet but, if they’re anywhere near as comfortable and responsive as the V2’s, I’m stoked about giving them a wear soon.
