Pay homage to the queen. Mary’s undisputed and she’s got timeless tunes to back it up. When she stepped on the scene in ’92 and had unparalleled success with What’s The 411?, she paved the way for every young b-girl who wanted to grab a mic and sing. And in the past few days, Alicia Keys and Keyshia Cole have both shown reverence for MJB during recent performances by covering her work.
First up, Keyshia does “I’m Going Down” while live in LA. Yeah, Mary wasn’t the originator of the song but hearing Keyshia’s rendition doesn’t make to hard to figure the source of her (and the crowd’s) inspiration. Not to be lost in the shuffle, watch and listen to Alicia in London covering “Real Love,” too.
