It seems like everybody is watching Jiggaman’s “throne” these days, vying for a piece of the pie. In the latest attempt of cracking Jay-Z’s multi-million dollar safe, AllHipHop.com reports that Ahab Joseph Nafal is suing him and super-producer Timbaland for the usage of Baligh Hamdi’s “Khosara, Khosara,” in their smash hit “Big Pimpin’,” along with Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Records, Warner Music Group and Linkin Park (for remixing the track off their Grammy Award-winning album, Collision Course).
An original lawsuit was thrown out in 2007 after the court ruled that Nafal failed to join all individuals with rights to the composition in the lawsuit, as a 1909 Copyright Act requires. Jay-Z and Timbaland’s lawyers stated that the two cleared the sample through Baligh Hamdi’s representatives but it has now been deemed that those were only the economic rights to the record.
How’s that saying go, mo’ money, mo’ problems? Yeah, that’s the one. Take a listen to both tracks below.
