Amy Winehouse Did Not Die Of A Drug Overdose

By / 08.23.11

The popular assumption in the cause of Amy Winehouse’s death was likened to her drug and alcohol abuse but toxicology reports have ruled out “illegal substances” to playing a factor. Her family, still grieving from her July 23rd passing, released a statement to the Associated Press to kill the belief until the full autopsy has been completed.

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death,” the statement read. “Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death. The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”

In the meantime, her 2006 album, Back to Black continues to remain a presence on the Billboard charts.
