A lot of times when an artist or group get together to record the follow up to their first and only hit song, recreating the magic can be a problem. However, in 1997 when Warren G and fellow regulator Nate Dogg reunited for the first time on wax with “Annie Mae,” the outcome was outstanding. While obviously not as notable as it’s Michael-McDonald-sampling predecessor, this G-Funkedified tale of a two-timing hoodrat was the perfect intro to Warren’s unheralded sophomore release Take A Look Over Your Shoulder and a bright spot amongst the many collabos between the two 213 comrades.
