Man, you never can tell. After I’ve been moaning and groaning all summer, there actually seems to be an inkling of hope about the NBA lockout. According to Sports Illustrated, Derek Fisher sent a text message to several players, asking them to be physically ready for a new season. Now, that’s nothing conclusive. And there’s certainly a long way to go in the negotiating process. But the dominoes seem to be starting to fall.
A little while back, Roger Mason – one of the union representatives at the bargaining table – gave us our first peek behind the curtain by tweeting “Looking like a season. How u” to Knick star Amar’e Stoudamire. That’s pretty promising. I mean, the message was deleted quickly, but that can only be a good thing, right? All of the sudden, this process reminds me of when the owners and players started to crack the NFL lockout. Some good news started to trickle in, then more, and suddenly, boom, the problem was solved.
Let’s hope the same kind of thing happens this time around.
