Machine Gun Kelly’s busy week continues. The Cleveland MC’s celebrity continues to grow in between a cypher performance that saw him trade bars with Big K.R.I.T., B.O.B., Tech N9ne and Kendrick Lamar, his Rage Pack mixtape dropping Friday and Diddy’s obsessive promotional tweets. A precursor to Pack, “Welcome To The Rage” seems tailor-made to fit his fanbase. An electronic dance-hall beat provides the canvas over which MGK paints proud, boisterous vocals about his ability to… uh… rage.
Stating the obvious here, but MGK is one of the most polarizing names in the game right now. His fans love him, and his haters genuinely despise the guy’s music. Whichever camp you find yourself in, though, recognize the fact that he doesn’t bite anybody else’s style. As easy as it is to label him an Eminem-Yelawolf knock-off, that’s pretty far from the case. With swagger that’s more rockstar than rapstar, Machine Gun Kelly is doing his own thing. And he gives his fans exactly what they want to hear: music to get drunk and dance to. Get used to him, because MGK isn’t going anywhere.
