Here’s another way to build your brand at a music festival: connect with like-minded artists in legendary surroundings to create original music. During A3C, Royal Flush and SMKA production teams linked up with several artists who were in town for the festival to create an exclusive mixtape. It all went down at the mythical Atlanta house of hits, Stankonia Studios and being presented by Grooveshark streaming music radio.
The first release from the Stankonia Sessions EP, available for free as streaming audio exclusively at Grooveshark on November 16, is “Heaven’s Door” featuring Justus League emcee Joe Scudda, Beantown rep Termanology and Flint City’s own Jon Connor. Laced with bright horns, and rearview mirror-rattling bass, the live instrument infused track provides a welcome change in musical scenery for a group of emcees who usually spit over chopped up samples. If this lyrical free-for-all is evidence of what’s in store, Stankonia Session will be another addition to the list of successes coming out of A3C, which is already as long as Gucci Mane’s rapsheet.
