Just think, some people start their morning everyday with a line of coke, but you’d probably never know. While I’m 98.9% sure Chance Fischer, Dylan Owen and Kinectics don’t, they did all join forces for the groovy, lyrical free-for-all track, “Breakfast Coke.” The number features ample production from D. Nilsz and superb verses from all parties involved, but probably the most honorable aspect about is Chance’s networking.
Networking? Yes, networking.
For those not in the know, Kinectics is a Grammy nominated rapper and one half of the group Kinectics and One Love (they wrote the hook to B.o.B.’s “Airplanes”), and is also signed to Warner Music Group. Dylan, on the other hand, is an MC who has made his rounds on the New York “underground” scene sharing stage time with the likes of Yelawolf, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller and more. Meanwhile, here’s lil’ ol’ Chance from Richmond, Virginia, – the city whose Hip Hop identity nationwide is nothing more than faint heartbeat – holding his own and making strides. There’s no definite answer where “Breakfast…” will ultimately land, but my guess is Chance’s forthcoming 2012 LP. Given the lyrical range, yet accessibility in terms of tastes, that’s where I’m placing my vote.
