Sorry to disappoint all those expecting a politically correct write-up on David Banner’s money earner/hopeful single from his next LP, The Make Believe Album, but we’re living in drastic times and minute wasted on a wack song is like a year that will never return. This isn’t even about Banner’s renowned flip-flopping from preacher to pimp to poet before the CD comes to a halt. It’s about a notable figure in the game (for whatever reason) scraping by off the bare minimum to retain relevancy.
Who really can get get jiggy with this shit? Yao Ming isn’t even a fucking player in the NBA anymore, and, did Jay not master the metaphorical aspect in his name nearly a decade ago? The Lil Wayne attempt already fell flat once before and while 2 Chainz is definitely popping like a bag of Act II right about now, I don’t seem to remember DB reaching out to him when his name was Tity Boi of Playaz Circle.
Although the respect will probably never dwindle – seeing how Banner’s a stand-up guy socially – musically, it seems to be the same scenario with this guy. For every progressive step taken per project, there’s a trip down regression’s highway with the car sputtering in reverse. Enough is enough, Mr. Banner. You spend a respectable amount of time in between projects so there is no excuse not to align them with a healthy amount of focus.
And there you have it.
