For reasons that still aren’t quite clear, Fat Trel’s much anticipated Nightmare on E Street mixtape didn’t drop this past November. With a month to reflect and reboot, it seems Trel is finally ready to unleash his ominously-titled opus on the world, as evidenced by the newly-released intro to the tape, “Nightmare.” Over military drum cadences, horror movie keys, and spooky synths, Trel goes off for about five straight minutes with no hook. Rhyming like he’s tired of waiting for his turn, “Nightmare” serves as warning to anyone foolish enough to be outside when he hits the streets. Don’t sleep.
The folks over at DC to BC have put together a compilation of Trel’s strongest work to date, Fat Trel’s Nightmare Before Christmas: The Set List, that includes each song the E Street Banga will perform at DC’s U Street Music Hall on Sunday, December 18. Fat Trel’s mixtape Nightmare on E Street is now scheduled for release in early 2012.
