Troy Ave Drops A New York Anthem As Jeremy Lin Drops A Game-Winner

By / 02.14.12

In the feverish midst of Lin-sanity, New York MC Troy Ave. has assembled a formidable NYC posse cut in the form of “Home T.E.A.M.,” off his upcoming Bricks In My Backpack 3: The Harry Powder Trilogy. Reaching out to Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Maffew Ragazino and Avon Blocksdale, the five-piece concocts a potent boom-bap anthem for their East Coast home. There are grimy portraits of street-living and pill-popping – the latter helps keep the grind going at all times. The throwback-sounding tune reminds listeners that the newly resuscitated Knicks aren’t the only resurgent Big Apple product infiltrating popular culture these days. The East Coast’s signature aesthetic seems to be making a comeback too.

Oh, and speaking of Jeremy Lin, the legend continues to grow as he drained the game winning three pointer tonight versus the Toronto Raptors. Finishing with 27 points and 11 assists, the undrafted Ivy League point guard stands alone in NBA history. With 136 total points, he now finds himself in first place – passing Shaquille O’Neal – for the (most points in his first five starts) since the NBA-ABA merger. Not bad. Not bad at all.
