Regardless of how cliche’ or necessary it’s become for artists to downplay signing with labels, the fact still remains every person who decides to make music their career at least started with the dream of having their talent recognized in such a fashion. Cue Sacramento, California, MC, Chuuwee, as he becomes the latest rapper to sign with Amalgam Digital following the likes of Max B, Curren$y, Slaughterhouse and more. The label, known largely for its digital emphasis, has been in a transition period as of late and the Sac-Town rapper is slated to be one of several artists A.D. is now placing their hard earned duckets on.
It should be something of note to see how the camp decides to plan the next stages of Chuuwee’s career; one looking to build up nominated for a “Sammy” – basically Sacramento’s version of a Grammy – for “Best Emcee.” Here’s what set in stone though. The “young West” segment of Hip-Hop is winning right now with Kendrick, Schoolboy Q, Dom Kennedy, Pac Div, Nipsey Hussle, Ab-Soul, Casey Veggies, DaVinci, Fashawn and Chuuwee. Speaking of the last name on the list, the appropriately titled “This One’s For You” and “Lottery Ticket” – taken from his upcoming concept-driven mixtape, Crown Me King – are perfect choices for those unfamiliar with his music. And after doing that, immerse yourself with some of his previous material. Each one, teach one. That’s how any fan base starts.
