The third installment in the Men In Black series gets a shiny new trailer. And it looks… decent.
The Good: it promises to put Will Smith back in front of a camera for the first time since 2008’s Seven Pounds. Considering that Smith’s roots will always be in comedy and that MIB has always been a more lighthearted series, fans of the Fresh Prince should enjoy. Josh Brolin’s inclusion as a young Agent K also makes a lot of sense; he is more than capable of pulling off the gruff, hard-ass vibe that Tommy Lee Jones brought to the first two installments.
The Bad: no matter how much talent the crew posses, lines like “I don’t have no problem pimp-slapping the shiznit out of Andy Warhol” remind us that an actor’s talent can only take a project so far. A poorly-written script will doom any A-lister. Hopefully, the writers steer away from corny, similar-minded slang that always dooms PG-13 movies.
At this point, there seems to be more to be excited for than not. Look for Men In Black 3 in theaters May 25th.
