Question Of The Day: What Should The Knicks Do With Carmelo Anthony?

By / 03.12.12

On Sunday, New York Knicks lost their fifth straight loss after falling to Philadelphia by the score of 106-94. Mike D’Antoni benched both Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony for the whole fourth quarter, leaving the two to watch their teammates pull the squad back to within 10 points with a minute left before finally falling short. After being a fan favorite on arrival, Carmelo’s name was the subject to a few boos during the player introductions and he’s been on the receiving end of blame for the Knicks recent slide, the assumption being the Knicks team played better during his 11 game absence.

Melo may be giving “110 percent,” but he’s shooting around 40 percent from the field, making $18.5 mil and a player who needs the ball in his hands in order to produce results. But his time away showed that team’s offense appears to work better when the shots are spread evenly.

Given the circumstances, what should D’Antoni and Knicks owner James Dolan do with Carmelo?
