In 1990, this guy Grand Puba was that guy. Swag’s a word seldom used around these parts but Puba Maxwell had it in spades. 120 Lessons mixed with slick, street talk accentuated by fashion namedrops before rap made it passé.

Dude was ill. He was my idol, lol. Puba personified swag decades before the term became watered down and bastardized.
This might be a stretch, but I’d say he is to Hilfiger what the Lo-Lifes are to Polo.
360 is my jam.
Puba was the King of NY before they even though of the moniker
Thank you Gotty.
We didn’t hear too much of this out my way, but when we did… It was special and those in the know, knew it.
This is one of my fav Grand Puba songs off all time. He was just showing off his many flows. It’s too bad that we won’t really appreciate him until he is gone. Been a fan since his Master Of Ceremony days.
Puba was simply that dude.
Knapsacks? Air Reverdechis? Girbaud? Huaraches? Yes. He could never make me wear Hilfiger though.
Son was Hilfiger’d the eff out!
The god had so much style & finesse on the mic. Reel To Reel got major play in the ride back in high school…made me wanna rock some Girbauds & play soccer w/ the dreads! I remember there was supposed to be a Lord Finesse produced Puba LP in the early 2000s that never materialized.
2000 was wavy too.
I don’t like to throw this word around but Grand Puba is truly under-appreciated.
Puba is Soo Underrated
