Reportedly, Dre, Snoop and Tupac could soon be coming to a small arena near you. Fresh off Sunday night’s Coachella performance, the wheels may already be churning for Dr. Dre and co. to take virtual Pac on the road*.
“We worked with Dr. Dre on this, and it was Dre’s vision to bring this back to life,” Nick Smith — president of AV Concepts, the San Diego company that projected and staged the image — exclusively told MTV News on Monday (April 16). “It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life. … You can take their likenesses and voice and … take people that haven’t done concerts before or perform music they haven’t sung and digitally re-create it.”
Of all the things Dre could be doing**, his next bright idea’s to take a virtual Pac on tour? Not working with living, breathing artists but to summon the likeness of a dead one? A dead one who once referred to him as “gay ass Dre”? Not motherf*cking Detox?
I feel like I went to bed in one world, and woke up to a third-party turning the page, bringing us one chapter closer to the final confrontation between us and the damned.
* – I guarantee you there’s a Drake x Aaliyah touring being routed as we speak.
** – Now, Snoop, I don’t put anything past him. He sees green – whether it be weed or money – and he’s all in.
