YouTube Set To Take Videos To 3D

By 04.07.12

You don’t need to be an tech expert to realize that 3D-rendered videos are becoming commonplace in society; that Youtube is going to start offering streaming 3D videos seems like a logical progression and the industry-leading video site will begin showcasing 3D videos. The website “has developed algorithms to turn 2D images into 3D ones,” meaning that uploaders don’t need an expensive camera to join the party; all a user has to do is upload a standard HD video and the website will convert it. According to Wired, the service is already being offered. Not necessarily the simplest of procedures, mind you, but glasses-free 3D is apparently a possibility, meaning you can enjoy Nintendo 3DS-like visual effects from the comfort of your laptop.

Beyond logistics, a much larger question begs to be asked: do we really need the option of watching Keyboard Cat in 3D? Yes. Yes, we do.
