With scares along the way, the only logical Eastern Conference final once Derrick Rose went down for the count is finally upon us. The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics are no stranger to one another and have been the best rivalry the East since roughly 2008. Stemming from Boston’s storied history with LeBron James in Cleveland, as well as Wade in the Sunshine State, 2012 actually marks the fourth time in five years the C’s face either James and/or Wade in the playoffs and the third consecutive second season they take on Miami. Like last year, the Celtics boast a winning regular season record against the Heatles heading into their postsesason showdown.
Boston’s openly admitted this is their last run together with the nucleus of Pierce, Allen, Garnett and Rondo. Meanwhile, Miami – specifically LeBron James and myself – need eight more wins to validate their place on the sunny side of history as one of the more legendary and polarizing ensembles the league has seen. Something has to give, and something will. In the manner we did with the West yesterday, kick your feet up and peruse eight points to keep an eye on over these next four, or five, or six or seven games.
