For his latest video E-40 enlists the help of his West Coast homie Kendrick Lamar and real-life son Droop-E to bring to life his latest single “Catch A Fade,” from one of the three volumes of The Block Brochure: Welcome To The Soil. K-Dot continues his one-man demolition streak and gives a solid assist to 40, who drops a decent verse of his own. It also trips me out to hear that Droop-E’s voice sounds absolutely nothing like his father’s unique voice. But of everything on “Catch A Fade,” the simplistic, pounding beat is the element that stands out the most.
In all actuality, it’s highly unlikely that most people had the time to sit down and devote a week to listening to all 452235 songs that 40 Water dropped earlier in March, so if you’re anything like me, the singles are the only the thing you’ve heard from it so far. And by the time he’s pushing the project there’s probably going to be enough videos to create a best of The Block Brochure mini-album.
And while we’re here, here’s another video, this time taking E-40 to Kansas City as he creepily raises the dead for his “Zombie” record with Tech N9ne.
