The darkness of the streets sometimes cause for the brightest of music to be created. In the case of Fat Trel, one of rap’s most promising and rugged MC’s of the moment, those trials and tribulations faced in every inner city across America come to life with his newest visual, “Devil Like We.” Detailing the lives of two individuals tied to the street, the only thing sharper than Trel’s words is the knife being catered to throughout the clip.
Where Nightmare On E. Street falls in the Chocolate City native’s catalog is another debate altogether. However, bringing this visual to life was important on more than one front. Yes, it was a dope song which only became more intriguing with a well thought out video. It also helped present a story to the viewing public in a different light than what is often portrayed in Hip-Hop. We may brag about the street life in rap, but best believe ain’t a damn thing sweet about it. Making it out is nothing less than a gift from God.
