Sometimes Kanye West’s vision gets the best of his music. At this stage in his career, he’s put it upon himself to be as grandiose as possible and often the consequences leave even his most staunch supporters straight flabbergasted. Not surprisingly, his latest music video for “Lost In The World” follows suit.
Continuing to blaze his recent comeback trail, while setting aside the under-card for a moment, Yeezy’s latest flick picks up the promo for 2010’s critically acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy with another one of his patented, frantic visuals. Directed by filmmaker Ruth Hogben, the concept is frenzied and tied together by a bunch of females dancing like those wacky waving inflatable tube-men on the top of businesses who can’t get a real marketing campaign going. It makes sense, sort of, but is just so vague most folks won’t want to watch again, if they can even make it through the whole thing in the first place. But, again, Kanye likes to keep us on our toes, so we’ll just have to get used to the confusion.
Hey, it could’ve been worse. There could’ve been a tea-drinking phoenix, petting a deer, right?
