Lupe takes it back to Chicago for the “Around My Way” visuals directed by Alex Nazari. F&L2: The Great American Rap Album due in stores on September 25.
Really feeling this.
*Ducks before the “hurr durr huurrr Lupe’s corny” comments.
I can aim lower tho……. So I mean it’s kinda pointless to duck.
My bad… I meant bobbing an weaving.
Yeah, that does make it tougher to hit you wit slander.
I stand by this product.
Lupe looking like Chief Keef.
I like the video, but what’s going on with these disparate effects? Cartoons, and glowing eyes? I don’t understand it.
lol I thought the same thing regarding Keef. Hmmmm has anyone seem them in the same place together? What if? hahaha
(I might be wrong, but) I think we saw conceptual elements from his first two studio albums, e.g. the game, personified in this video.
If so, dope.
It was interesting seeing Lupe drink that 40 in the video (or feign drinking it if if wasn’t real). He’s always promoted not drinking or smoking in his music/interviews and claimed to abstain from it himself, even though I used to see him on the scene here in Chicago drinking and smoking before he got famous which is why I always found that stance of his odd.
Okay…Rosado, you know you can’t just type that last sentence all willy nilly, mufucka. You’re telling me that you, personally, seen Wasalu “Lupe Fiasco” Muhammad Jaco, smoking weed and drinking liquor back in Chicago?..Like back in the Fahrenheit days?..Way back when he was hanging with Chill? As an adamant Lupe stan, it’s hard to just take that info without question. I know everyone isn’t perfect and we all have our vices/transgressions, but it seems too far left..
Yes, I have. Yes, it was back in the Fahrenheit days. Other than knowing that he exists, I couldn’t tell you what Chill looks like.
Look, I’m a fan of his and have been for a long time, but that’s always been something I didn’t get, why he tried to push that persona so hard in terms of not drinking/smoking. Like you said we all have our vices and transgressions, so I don’t get the hang up on his end.
Lupe describes himself as a devout Muslim; they don’t drink at all.
But I don’t believe that was always the case. Even in his early days, his treatment of the subject matter was a little different, I think he was probably around more hood cats and taking on some of those attributes. I remember my boy Jason playing me one of his earliest songs (can’t remember the name of it at all) and I wrote him off as just another hustler rapper. It wasn’t until he became more “conscious” that he blew up, but I think if that was a front for him or not his natural state, he would eventually revert back to his normal persona.
Even though he said he was “doing dirt” before the fame, I kinda thought he sold whatever without engaging in it…As I see this sentence, my “stan level” is clearly of great measure..Even if it is true, it matters not, as long as he is truthful about what he does/doesn’t do, today…Damn, don’t shake my stan world like that, homey. :)
Helll Yeah!!!! That avi working now!!!!!! Shots out to Aaron Smarter for giving me the inspiration for this artwork. Boss shit.
nothing great. nothing subtle. middle of the road. solid job well done.
This beat just really distracts the hell out of me LOL…like its not jus the TROY bite but the extra ish that makes it annoying for some reason LOL…
Lupe is still one of my favorite rappers but its no denying that he’s straddling the line between Canibus and .
I like where he’s headed w/right now. not sure where these two songs will lead, but i like it.
Thnx gotty. Thts all tht needs 2b said.
@ El Rosado… Ok, cool…I can’t debate what you saw…I’ll try to let my obsessive fandom breathe for a second.haha!
Not bad… I can nitpick the video some for not being the most original with the visuals… all the violence in Chi—I woulda thought that video woulda shown some of that somehow…. but all in all I didn’t offer to shoot it, so I cut dude some slack.
I’ll save $9.99 for 9/25.
^ I’m hoping he gets an NPR stream or Soundclick or something.
Hopefully Atlantic will realize that this is the best promotion you can give: the assurance that you will be purchasing music worth the dough you shell out.
Especially since fan confidence in this particular product has been, shall we say, “shaken”. I know I won’t buy it without hearing it first the way I did with other rappers who I like by name.
(You may be able to blame that on sub-par efforts by many of my favorite up-and-coming blog rappers for the last couple years)
Shots fired IN the video though…
He takes the Lambo back to the rental. LMAO
@Gotty. Agreed. Welcome back Lupe???
