It Turns Out A Lot Of Teams Want Brandon Roy

By / 06.26.12

A few short days ago, we played fantasy basketball and asked who would be willing to pick former Blazer star Brandon Roy and his newly rehabilitated and now rejuvenated knees. In reality, it looks like Roy has many prospective suitors willing to take a chance on him.

“…The Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as serious suitors to sign the former All-Star guard, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Pacers executive Kevin Pritchard made a draft day deal for Roy in 2006 as Blazers GM, and his relationship could play a pivotal part in Indiana’s recruitment of Roy, sources said. Roy trusts Pritchard, and values the fact that he brought him to Portland. Nevertheless, Roy hasn’t begun the process of narrowing his list of possibilities. After Thursday’s draft, more teams could express interest in him.”

Considering the fact that Roy pocketed a $63 million payout from Portland via the league’s amnesty clause, he doesn’t stand to lose by any stretch of the imagination. But what he stands to gain ranks as most important: a chance to get back on the court & reclaim what was potentially an accolade-filled career.
