The xx Announce Sophomore Album & Release Date

By / 06.04.12

Great news for emo kids, fans of Rihanna and Drake collaborations and just about anyone who enjoys house music: The xx have officially announced that their sophomore album will drop September 11. The London three-some plans to name the follow-up to 2009’s eponymous debut Coexist.

The group recently performed three songs off the upcoming project, igniting a firestorm of what and when questions regarding the album’s name and release date. Although many fans fear a complete makeover, The xx’s most active member, Jamie xx, has said that “club music has definitely had an influence.” That’s awesome news for Gotty, who still swears by Jamie’s BBC Radio 1 mix. But OG xx fans, don’t fret. If those aforementioned London performances are any indication, the band’s still about sparsely produced R&B–with a hint of club appeal. Everyone wins!
