Man, look. There is absolutely no country for people that lack an appreciation of Cody ChesnuTT. While it’s unclear why he’s been on hiatus for the better part of a decade, Cody still pops up with a gem that reminds us why The Headphone Masterpiece lived up to its name. “That’s Still Mama” is all horns out of the Curtis Mayfield school of epic movie scores that sounds like it would fit nicely as the opening theme to a Spike Lee movie about Dez Bryant.
Those horns. Sweet Jesus.
Cody’s second full-length album, Landing On A Hundred is set to drop in October, but he needs a bit of help. ChesnuTT needs about $7,000 more bucks via Kickstarter to launch his album, and I suggest we all hop to it.
