Pardon the interruption but our regular posting schedule will be off over the next few days. I'll be in Washington, D.C. until Tuesday, taking in all the fun and madness that is Nike's World Basketball Festival, which includes taking in all kinds of hoops - Team USA men's and women's play, amateurs, streetball - taking place at various spots around our nation’s capitol this weekend. Both the Team USA squads will play games against Brazil Monday at the Verizon Center.

Last night, we hung out at Barry Farms to watch the famed Goodman League All-Stars squad take on Team Nike NY on a newly refurbished court deep in the heart of the community. Of course, the game itself was amazing, but nothing was more surprising than the hometown team's coaches: legendary Hoyas coach John Thompson for the first half followed by Goodman luminary Kevin Durant and his assistant, James Harden, for the second.

Today? Nothing more than going to the DC Armory to watch the USA men's and women's teams host a "Hoops For Troops" exhibition for members of the armed services and their families. Instructed by Coach Geno Auriemma, four of the ladies - Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, Candace Parker, Seimone Augustus - led kids in a one hour skills clinic before the men's squad came in for an open practice session that saw its share of dunks, deft passes and long shots.

Right now, I’ve got more gigabytes to sort through than the time to do it, so click through and enjoy a few photos from day one and the first half of day two. We’ll be back with a full recap later. In the meanwhile, the best way to keep up with the action is to follow me on Twitter (@JohnGotty) and Instagram (jgotty) and/or track the Twitter hashtag "#GameOnWorld."
