Maybe this massive heat wave has everyone on edge, but no one seems to be feeling the love right now. We discussed A$AP Rocky’s beef with The Kickdrums and Machine Gun Kelly not seeing eye-to-eye Jimmy Iovine. Then there’s always Chris and Drake. Last Thursday, Yelawolf visited Shade 45’s All Out Show with Rude Jude and Lord Sear where he discussed disagreements with his label while shedding light on a slew of impending projects. As it turns out Catfish Billy wasn’t exactly thrilled with the way Interscope promoted Radioactive. In fact, he’d even go so far to say, “I don’t know what the fuck they’re doing up there. I love Shady Records, I just think there’s some shit going on upstairs.”
Not seeing eye-to-eye with his home base – he was right, the label did only gave him one true single in 11 months – and coming off the heels of a ruptured spleen stemming from a stage dive, Yela’s reverting back to his old blueprint of releasing music. Come this Wednesday (Independence Day), he and Alabama producer M16 will drop The Heart Of Dixie followed by Psycho White with Travis Barker and then Trunk Muzik Returns. And at some point next year, the album Love Story will serenade the masses with–what’s hoped to be–a much better promotional effort.
Keeping it as diplomatic as possible with the label, the Crimson Tide native cut no corners when the pesky question of MGK comparisons arose: “It’s probably the most insulting thing on the planet to be asked to sign a Machine Gun Kelly autograph.”
Well, all right then. Welcome back, Yela. We were wondering where the hell you went.
