When Derrick Rose went down on April 28th, the sporting world sh*t a collective brick. Not just Bulls fans or Chicagoans, but even people with a passing interest in sports winced when an athlete, who’d shown he was willing to do things “the right way,” lay sprawled on the court in pain with a season-ended knee injury in the playoffs.
Five months later, we can all begin to breath again as adidas and Rose announce the multi-episode documentary “The Return.” In the trailer, we get a albeit quick but telling glimpse of “what’s inside” D Rose, that something that we’ve already seen in the glare in his eyes on the court being brought to life in front of the cameras. That special characteristic which can best be called a quiet burn that’s fueling his road to rehab and back to the court. And the usually private athlete’s opening up to give fans a look into his life as he travels “The Return.”
