Having already released a string of top-notch singles so far this year, British soul singer Jessie Ware seems primed to make her mark with her debut album, Devotion. While it doesn’t hit stores until Tuesday, The Guardian has the record up in full for our streaming enjoyment, with early spins revealing a smooth, meticulously-crafted effort that belies Ware’s new artist status.
The 27-year-old Londoner has a voice to swoon over; it’s the perfect vehicle for sweeping ballads like “Wildest Moments” and slow burning numbers like the Sade-inspired “Running.” Devotion isn’t all quietly dignified, however. Guitar riffs amp up the intensity on “Night Light” (a potential single, to be sure) and “Sweet Talk” carries just enough bounce to elicit a classy 2-step. Listen below for what it sure to stand as one of the marquee debut efforts of 2012.
