Despite their penchant for bruising microphones with punchlines galore, an actual song with depth is what I want more often than not from Slaughterhouse. Luckily, their new single “Goodbye” is an emotional concept song and delivers exactly the right amount of character needed to carry them beyond their battle rap repertoire. Featuring Buddens, Ortiz and Crooked paying homage to lost loved ones, the Boi-1da produced cut from their upcoming welcome to: Our House LP allows them to show there’s more than meet’s the eye with these lyrical murderers and that they’re capable of using those rhyme-minded brains to craft a track that’s both touching and marketable.
Now, with a mixtape dropping tomorrow and the album hitting shelves on August 28, let’s hope Shady gets the promo machine working properly and actually puts some money behind this. Listen below, buy it on iTunes.
