Gunplay’s Okay, He’ll Be With Us At A3C On Friday

By 10.09.12

The Breakfast Club broke a rumor this morning that Gunplay reported to jail earlier this morning on an outstanding warrant stemming from charges of armed robbery and assault. We have it on good authority that the news isn’t exactly accurate. Don Logan’s still a free man and he’s still releasing free music, as evidenced by him debuting the new track “Rap Sheet” today. Above all, we’re happy to say that, as of the time of this post, Gunplay’s still slated to perform as part of the Perfect Attendance stage on Friday at the A3C Hip-Hop Festival in Atlanta, which runs from Thursday through Saturday, beginning October 11.

This year, we’re taking it back to where everything first started for us at the 5 Spot with Fadia and SMKA on Friday night. And there’s not just Gunplay. There’s Vado, Trae Tha Truth, Thurz, 3D Na’Tee, Openmic, Grande Marshall, Gerald Walker and more artists we really like plus a few tricks we have up our sleeve.

Bigger than us or just the Friday night stage, A3C’s offering the usual but still unique range of over 300+ artists, panels, film screenings combined with a vibe of camaraderie that most other festivals can’t replicate. Shoutout to Miss Dimplez, Eleven8 and all our PNCs. And shoutout to Gunplay. Stay duckin’ the law for a few more days holmes.

Update: As stated, anything’s subject to change with Don Logan and today, under his laywer’s strong advice, the rapper did go ahead and turn himself in on robbery charges. His lawyer Mike Greico told Hip-Hop Wired “the likelihood of [Gunplay] being out by the weekend is slim to none” and that the choices were “either he turned himself in, or if he performed this weekend they would have just pulled him off the stage.”

Don’t stress. Plan B is already in motion for us. For Gunplay, his lawyer proclaims his client will be exonerated.
